Etched
Metal Plaques |
|
Etched metal plaques are most suitable for business awards
acknowledging notabilities. Unknown to many, they generally cost more
than cast plaques per square inch, which is how plaques are priced.
However they are ideal when you have a limited plaque size and set text
length.
They should not be confused with engraved plaques, like those
offered by local trophy shops.
These are made by acid-etching images into sheets of brass, stainless
steel, aluminum, bronze, zinc and copper. Film is exposed onto
photosensitive metal plates.
The metal is digitally informed what to leave and what to remove to a
lower depth. Standard etching depths are .01" to .02". Braille available
for ADA compliance, deep-etched to .032. Oxidized finishes available.

Use etched metal plaques to depict images with fine detail or if lettering
is too small to cast. Letters on etched plaques can be as small as 1/16".
"New News" to some: Text can be either raised or recessed, the latter
being the most common approach. They can be fully painted including the raised areas. Textured paint is
offered for recessed background areas, replicating a cast plaque.

Copper & brass costs
approx. 5% more than bronze. Brass is a gold color, bronze has a
reddish tint, & copper is redder still. |
 |
Etched zinc looks just
like Aluminum & Stainless Steel. We offer all materials. Etched zinc provides the greatest image depth--.032--
of any material, regardless of application. |
 |
Zinc is perfectly suited
for exterior usage. BronzeTone & BrassTone finishes available.
Generally one should disregard "materials". It's best to define your
project criteria then let the manufacturing method and material
follow. |

Many specify brass when
they actually mean bronze. Click finishes at left for enlargements, opening in new windows. |
